Dr. Huettemann grew up in Ottawa, Marseilles and Seneca, IL and received a degree in Biological Sciences from Illinois State University. In 1992, he earned his Doctor of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He completed his training at the Illinois Eye Institute along with an externship rotation at Chicago Osteopathic Hospital.
Dr. Huettemann is Board Certified by the American Board of Optometry. He is a ProForum Advisor to Transitions Lenses, INC, a Sight Ministries International Board Member since 2017 and a Founding Board Member of Empty the Orphanages Ministries since 2013. His postgraduate education has included advanced vision therapy and extensive training in ocular pharmacology for the treatment and management of eye disease. His focus is also in diseases of the anterior and posterior segment of the eye.
In his spare time, Dr. Huettemann likes to golf, ski and spend time with his wife and four daughters. Dr. Huettemann is passionate about serving third-world countries by providing eye refractions, glasses and sunglasses to children and adults. He has visited Haiti and is currently planning his next mission trips to Indonesia and Zimbabwe.
