TLDR - Dont wait around in fear of getting Lasik done because there is little to no discomfort. The team at Vision Point are top tier experts in their trade. A true masterclass in professionalism and caring! After spending the majority of my life with a -10 to -11.5 glasses prescription I decided to get Lasik at Vision Point Eye Center. I did a bunch of research before getting the procedure done because I knew with my prescription there was a chance I either wouldnt qualify for Lasik or I would still have to wear glasses post surgery. I had gone initially for a consultation more than a year ago but got cold feet. Nancy who I had done the consultation with originally remembered me when I called to set up a second attempt at Lasik. I was pleasantly surprised by how extremely welcoming everyone was. I worked with Nancy to get measurements done on my eyes. I was blown away at how knowledgeable she was about all of the details of the procedure. She was patient with me and answered all of my questions. You could tell she was extremely passionate about her work and I loved that! She broke everything down for me. All of the details of how the procedure would go and what to expect. It was all so precise and I walked away feeling safe and in good hands before my procedure. The day of the procedure I worked with Megan. She got me prepared and broke everything down for me. She eased the tension and joked with me which made me feel more at ease. Everything happened exactly like Nancy had communicated to me to a T. They brought me into the procedure area and there were 3 Laser Vision Coordinators: Megan, Nancy and Jane Doe. Dr. Pinter was my Ophthalmologist. I laid down and they got right to it. They shot my eye with the first femtosecond laser creating thousands of micro-bubbles to create a flap for operating. Photodisruption is what my very good friend Google calls it. Dr. Pinter did both eyes and then lifted the flap to move me to another laser. The whole time during this procedure the Vision Coordinators were like a mini cheer team. Coaching me on breathing and someone even had their hand on mine to make me feel safe and grounded which was extremely sweet. I was swung over to the other laser and then the shaping of the cornea began. Normally this portion of the procedure takes about 13 seconds per eye, but my eyes were so bad it took a minute per eye. Harnessing the power of the sun Dr. Pinter used the excimer laser and Nancy counted down the seconds until each eye was done. Once done they repositioned the flaps over the eye. It was nuts how quickly I was able to realize a difference in my vision. Even while it was happening and I was looking at the red light post procedure before I was off the table I could tell things were better but boy was I in for a surprise. I got up off the table and it was wild! I could see immediately! I thought my vision was going to be so hazy I was going to need a seeing-eye-person for the first couple days. It was like a religious experience buddy! I was taken back to the exam room and Dr. Pinter made a small correction to one of the flaps and they hit me with the first dose of the antibiotic eye drops. Megan gave me the post-op breakdown and they sent me on my way. I went home and took a 2-4 hour nap. Everything was a bit blurry but I could see. I took it easy. Hour after hour things became more and more clear. There wasnt any pain. There was very mild discomfort. I looked like Frozone from Incredibles wearing my goggles but other than that I was normal. The next morning I got up and my vision was a little less cloudy. My follow up was the next morning first thing. Nancy did my post-operation eye test and I was already at 20/20 vision. It was nuts! And to see how excited she was for me too was really cool. You can tell these people all care a lot about what they are doing and take it seriously. Dr. Crockett did the final stamp of approval and I will go back in next week to follow up. Might even see if I can upgrade to laser eyes. 🙂
