Dr. Movic grew up in McKeesport, PA. He received his degree in Chemistry from Ohio Wesleyan University and his Doctor of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry, earning honors in both. Dr. Movic studied the management of glaucoma, ocular disease and ocular emergencies at the University of Missouri School of Optometry. He also trained for “Protecting Human Research Participants” at the National Institution of Health and “Good Clinical Practices” for the FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
Dr. Movic is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the European Academy of Optometry and Optics. He has received the AOA’s Optometric Recognition Award for 16 consecutive years and was selected to be an “Expert” for Alcon’s “Ask the Expert” program. He is a published author and lecturer and serves as a Lead Primary Investigator at multiple sponsors for advanced contact lens products. Dr. Movic offers frames from Google Glass, a device that projects a virtual display screen above the right eye and allows wearers to surf the web, ask for directions, read email, share photos and more.
The two best parts of working in Optometry, according to Dr. Movic, are the patients he gets to see every day and the clinical research he participates in.
In his spare time, Dr. Movic enjoys spending time with his wife, Susan, and their rescue dog, Mattie. He also likes to travel, exercise, cycle and do home remodeling.
